What would you do?

So, my friend went to the store to buy her son a bday gift the other day, and either the cashier forgot to scan the $40 lego set that she picked out or thye scanner didn't work properly, 'cause she wasn't charged for it! She didn't realize the mistake either 'cause she was bagging the other things she bought! When she got home & looked at her receipt, she realized that she didn't pay for it! She felt guilty & went back and paid for it...funny, when she went back, the customer service rep was surprised at her honesty!

What would you have done?

  1. Ok I may be a terrible person but I would be celebrating that I just saved $40.00

  3. I would not go back. One time I was in a toy store and the cashier was not only rude (he never even acknowledged me) but he talked to the other employees the ENTIRE time. When I got home I realized he didn't ring me up for a puzzle set and I figured it was his loss for not paying attention and being completely lousy at customer service.

  4. You have to go back and pay. I would have asked for a manager in the hopes that they would either just let me keep it (doubtful) or at least give a discount for my honesty and the trouble of returning to the store.

  5. I would definitely NOT go back...I know that sounds horrible, but I feel it's their problem for not paying attention! Does that make me a bad person??? :o)

  7. As a cashier i can tell you this happens alot (sometimes we get distracted, the register is giving us trouble...there are a variety of reasons, not always controlled by us) but I have never had a person come back and pay for an item that did not ring properly, in their favor. While ethically its the right thing to do...it's not what the majority would choose.
