Brady...my son...my parrot!
My son, Brady, who's 4 1/2 now, is saying the most adorable things these days...about the most random things sometimes too. On the way home from preschool the other day, we had a very serious discussion about where Elmo lived...I told him Sesame Street, but that was not the answer he was looking for...he was getting very frustrated with me...he kept saying, "No, Mommy...that's the show, but where does he live?" I finally figured out he was looking for "Sesame Place" as the answer. Since we've never been there, I didn't even know he knew what it was! Yesterday, I was answering email & stuff on my laptop, and he kept trying to get my attention...I told him that when I was finished, he could have my undivided attention (he only wants my full attention when I'm busy doing something, or on the phone...you know what I mean, parents!). Well, that wasn't good enough...he pointed his little finger at me and said, "If you don't stop doing that right now, you're going in a timeout!" That certainly got my attention! He was saying, verbatim, the same thing I've said to him 1,000 times before! HAHA! It was too funny...made me laugh out loud! At least he listens to what I say! Another thing he's been doing lately is teaching me how to pronounce words....omg...hilarious! For example, he'll say a word like, "breakfast" and when he thinks I don't know the word for some reason, he'll say, "Mommy, say "brek" and I'll have to say "brek" then he'll say the next syllable, "fast"and I'll have to say "fast"...then he'll say, "Ok, say it together now." So, I say "breakfast." You get it. Then, the best part, after I say it he'll say, "Good Job, Mommy!" The same exact way we teach him to say new words! I wish I could get it on video, but the minute I bring out the camera and the little red light goes on, he gets shy!

If it's the red light, you might be able to turn that off in a menu. Once you do that, figure out a good place to set it up on a mini tripod and leave it there doing nothing all the time. Then turn it on (discreetly) every once in a while and see what you get!
ReplyDeleteThe other day I was mad at my husband for putting an empty container back in the fridge instead of the trash. My 4 1/2 year old daughter says to me "Mommy be nice to Daddy, you always yell at him". I told my daughter " your father needs to learn how to put empty containers inside the trash can".And ofcourse my husband took this time to egg our daughter on. He tells her " It's ok honey mommy always yells at daddy" As I was walking up the stairs she tries to whisper but ofcourse she was loud enough that I heard her. She says "Daddy you should have married someone who loves you. I couldn't believe my ears. The she comes upstairs and tells me "mommy I love you but you need to be nice to daddy and apologize for yelling at him if you don't I won't tell love you anymore" then she slams my bedroom door. I couldn't believe it where do kids get this stuff from.
