I'm about to be robbed!

I've become a paranoid mess lately! You know, I watch too much of the news and see all the stories of the banks, stores, etc. getting robbed...sometimes in broad daylight! Now, everytime I go into a store and see a sketchy looking person, I automatically think the store's about to be robbed...with me in it! I'm not kidding...it's happened a lot lately...just over the weekend as a matter of fact. This crazy-looking guy was walking up & down the aisles, checking everyone & everything out! I instantly got freaked out...which is usually where it ends for me...I get freaked out, but continue to shop because I know I'm overreacting, and leave the store without incident. But, for some reason I felt differently this time! I even went so far as to reach in my purse and put my cell phone in my pocket so if the guy grabbed my purse, at least I would still have my cell phone to call 911! Crazy, I know...but, the world's a different place now than when I grew up...kinda sad! Anyway, still keeping my eye on this guy, and try to shove everything from my purse in my pockets, I waited to check out, which seemed like forever, and again, I left without incident, but this guy really creeped my out! He didn't seem to have creeped out anyone else, unless they were secretly freaking out like I was!

Ever get that creepy feeling in a store or something like that ever happen to you?

I worked in retail when I was in college, and weird people came in all the time, and it never really scared me...I guess different times, different fears!

  1. A few years ago after I had my son I was in a grocery store in Nashville. I noticed this guy walking around dressed in a baseball cap and some casual clothing. I got this funny feeling that his clothing didn't match what I would have expected him to wear. Then I noticed he was just walking around the store not really buying anything. I saw him in four different isles with nothing in his hands. I got this super creepy feeling. I noticed myself hugging my son closer and this feeling that I needed to flee. So, I decided to go to the front desk and alert the management. Funny thing! It turns out the guy was store security. I guess a lot of big stores hire plain clothed security people to wander around and watch the customers. I totally agree! It was like he was casing the joint. I guess it was his job! The manager applauded me for being so perceptive :)
