Magazine Etiquette

I was at the spa getting a pedicure the other day, and saw that they had the new issue of Cosmo, so, I picked it up to read. Well, there was a ton of stuff in there that I wanted to talk about on the show, so I ripped out the articles. Is that wrong? The girl didn't seem to care, although, I now wonder if she was talking about me when I left! I've done it at the dr.'s office too...I've torn out some great recipes from those magazines! C'mon, I'm sure I'm not the only one to have ever done this! Is it wrong? They put those magazines out so everyone can read them, right?

  1. I think they look down it ripping out pages. Maybe you could ask next time?

  2. i was in an office before, and i wanted to rip out a page, but i figured since they are there to look at, and other people would be looking at them, i would just leave it there.

  4. Maybe you could just ask them to make a copy of the article/recipe that you are interested in?

  5. They put them out so everyone can read them which means if you rip pages out they are not there for someone else to read

  6. I have to agree with Anonymous #4. I just ask the receptionist if I can make a photocopy.

  7. my chiropractor has a note hung that says they buy the magazines for the office and they'll be happy to make photocopies for you if you want.

  8. and it is a new magazine...most of the other viitors haven't read it. wouldnt you feel frustrated if your appointment was towards the end of the month and someone had torn off the story you wanted to read?

  9. Chris, most times you can find on the web site what is in the magazine. There is usually a web address, so lets leave the magazine for the next patron.

  10. I have to agree with the group here. I find it frustrating when I go to an appointment and pick up a magazine where pages have been torn out.

  11. Yep - I'm agreeing with everyone else here - if everyone started ripping out pages, there would be no pages left to read!

  12. Yes, it is not your magazine so it's not okay to rip stuff out, plus I hate when I start reading something and part of it is missing
