"I was hungry!"
That was what Brady told me when I asked him why he just put a huge bite mark into the middle of the just baked, unassembled, not even iced Easter Bunny cake for yesterday's festivities! Let me go back a little...he wanted to help me make it...we made 2 round cakes...one was the head, and the other one gets cut into 2 bunny ears and his bowtie. They had just come out of the oven and were on top of the stove cooling. The whole house smelled fabulous...like a bakery...so, I guess he couldn't resist! I was upstairs folding laundry when I heard John yell, "BRADY...what are you doing????" My heart sank...what in the world did he just do? I didn't hear any crying...hmmm...what was going on? Then, I heard John say, "You go tell Mommy what you did!" Here it comes....he said, "Mommy, I ruined the Easter Bunny cake." I couldn't understand how he could've done this, because we hadn't even assembled it, or iced it yet! He had his head hung low though...he knew he was probably gonna be in trouble! I was afraid to go down to the kitchen...but, I did, to survey the damage! It wasn't as bad as I had thought...I actually had to keep myself from laughing...you know, I had to let him know that he couldn't do that again! I asked him why he decided to just bite into the cake, and he said, "I was hungry!" That's it! HAHA! At least he was honest! :) He got sent up to his room for a while...he went without even hesitating. Thankfully, the chunk he took out of it wasn't big enough that I had to bake a new cake...who had time for that? I just turned it over and iced the other side (c'mon, you know you would've the same thing!). Crisis averted! Phew! When we got to my sister's house yesterday Brady was showing everyone the cake saying, "This is not the one I ruined!" Too cute! HEHE!

I made cupcakes for my son's preschool class - keep in mind I am 9 months pregnant at this point, so this was a BIG effort for me. I put them on the kitchen table in boxes covered in aluminum foil after I had iced them. I went upstairs (another big effort), and wonder why the dog has not followed me upstairs. So after a minute or two, I ask my husband to see what what the dog is doing. I hear "OH POOCHIE! Mommy is not going to be happy!" - she had pulled the boxes with the iced cupcakes onto the floor and was eating them. I think she got caught after cupcake #12! Poochie was 13 at the time, and we often needed to carry her up the stairs because she couldn't make it on her own anymore, but she was able to get up on that table to get to those delicious cupcakes - no problem!
