Do You Have To Buy Stuff at Those Home Parties?
You know the parties I'm talking about, right? Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Longaberger, Tastefully Simple...which I love, by the way, the beer bread is amazing! Anyway, I was invited to a jewelry party tonight, and I'm not really into the stuff, so I declined. But, my good friend, who's hosting said, "Just come anyway and hangout." A lot of our friends will be there, so I'm going to go...I'm actually really looking forward to it! Do I just find something to buy, or do I really believe her when she says, "You don't have to buy anything," and not buy anything? I'm leaning towards finding something to buy...I mean, that is the purpose of the party. I've hosted them before, and I obviously wanted people to buy stuff. Let me say, in general, I love those parties, and always buy lots of stuff...'cause it's usually stuff I like, but this time is different, 'cause I'm not into the stuff.
What do you think?

No Way! You have been invited to a party. You should not feel obligated to spend money at this party. A good friend would invite you because they think you will have fun, but should know you well enough to know that you are just not that into whatever is being sold. A good friend also knows when to make sure they invite you when they know what is being sold is totally you.
ReplyDeleteWELL CHRIS...DID YOU BUY ANYTHING????
ReplyDeleteI broke down and bought a necklace! It was the only thing in the catalog that I liked! I had fun hangin' w/my friends too!
ReplyDeleteNo one should ever feel obligated to buy anything at one of these, especially not when your friend specifically tells you to just come and hang out. No need to feel guilty!
