Should I dress up my 1-year-old for Halloween?
Some of my friends & family are giving me a hard time about not dressing up Bailey for Halloween...she's only 1 remember! She's has no clue what Halloween is and would probably not appreciate us putting a costume on her...especially anything on her head! They're having a little Halloween party at her sitter's today and she's got a little Trick or Treat shirt on...adorable! Maybe next year, when she actually knows what Halloween is, we'll get her a costume! Dave says it's all about the pictures, but I'll get those pics next year or the year after!
What do you think? Did you dress up your babies?

My son is also 1. I am dressing him up as Pablo from the Backyardigans. He is obviously not trick or treating, but we are visiting family and the "papparazzi" (our family) will have the camera's in full swing! You HAVE too! Plus...your son will not understand why you didn't dress her up too! Do it :)

My baby is only 2 months old and we bought her a cute little butterfly costume!!! I love dressing up babies...I am opposed to taking her trick or treating. She is just going to help mommy and daddy give out candy!!! She will be 1 next year and I plan on taking her to a few houses at that point!
ReplyDeleteIf you really don't think you're missing out, then don't worry about it. My little guy was just about a year old last halloween and we put him in a monkey costume. Dave's right, its about the pictures! But for babies, I think you keep it simple and comfortable!!
ReplyDeleteBoth of my kids were born in August so they were only a few months old come Halloween. I have dressed them up every year. My oldest got a cute santa onesie when he was born, a hand me down from my nephew who was born in December. I thought it was really cute but wouldn't fit him come Christmas so he was Santa for Halloween. The next year he was a little devil. My youngest for his first Halloween we had recieved a cute bat snuggle thing, so he was a black and green bat, the next year he was a dragon.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter was only 3 months old last Halloween, so we put her in an outfit my mom got for her, it was just orange pants and an orange and white onesie that said "Baby's 1st Halloween." We didn't take her out at all. But this year, she is now 15 months old, and we are totally taking her! :) She is going to be Cinderella, it's a baby costume so it's not one of those big dresses, but it's really cute :) It comes with one of those ugly headbands that I'll try to put on her for pictures, if she can keep it on that long (she hates stuff on her head). My fiance and I are taking her trick-or-treating and are super excited! :) She's been walking for a few months now, so she can walk when she wants to, but she tends to get distracted by leaves (which just so happen to be all over the ground right now! Lol), so we will also carry her and use the stroller when we can. I think I'm more excited about taking her out than I was when I was trick-or-treating as a kid.
ReplyDeleteI think your son would love it if you dressed up your daughter, too!
I put my 7 month old in a (not so scary) skeleton outfit. It was good enough and kept him warm. I did dress up my oldest as Tigger for Halloween, but it really was because he was the first. My second is already getting jipped! hehe
