My take on Valentine's Day!

I was thinking today that I've come full circle on Valentine's Day. You may have too! When John and I first started dating, VDay was a big deal...roses, picnics in the living room, little scavenger hunts, tons of romance! After we got married, it became less grand. It was always acknowledged, but on a much less scale, and I didn't mind...we're both very busy people. John would always write a little handwritten message on the inside of the card, which made me cry...every year...he's very sweet! Now that we have kids, and Brady has cute VDay parties in school, I've been bitten by the VDay bug again, and I'm all into it. The house is decorated, I'm planning cute little surprises for John, and have plans to bake a huge heart-shaped choc chip cookie! Cheesy to some, but I want to do the cheesy VDay stuff again! What I'm really hoping for is that we find some (any) time to ourselves, which hardly ever happens these days, with kids, jobs, etc. I think I'm just really missing the time we used to be able to spend together! I'm not so sure John's on the same page as me with this, or any guy, but I'm hoping he just puts a little thought into VDay this year! I don't need a gift...seriously...just something thoughtful to prove that we're still connected. Is that too much to ask? LOL!

  1. do you guys have date nights? maybe one night a week where you hand the kids to a sitter and just do something for the two of you.

I think your ideas, above, are great. It's also nice that John gets into it, too.

  2. awwwww thats so sweet :) I think its a wonderful idea. Trust me i know, with having two kids and being a single mom, i would give ANYTHING to have just a little time to myself. You guys deff need that, put the kids to bed a little early on Monday and have a nice romantice evening for the two of you, watch a movie and just cuddle :)

  3. Chris, I think you're 100% right. Creating & showing that loving feeling any day, is a good one. So use Valentine's Day to do something special that you just don't get to do everyday due to "The Busy Life Syndrome" that we all seem to have contracted.

It's not about the gifts but rather the thought that was put into the day. Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate love. ♥

I think children always bring that special feeling of love. It makes you want to celebrate Valentine's Day in a fun way.

I have a 4 year son, who calls me his sweetie girl. I love that. So even though I have a husband, my son is my most special Valentine!

Wishing you & yours a very special Valentine's Day.
